Real Madrid are looking for a new manager only five days after claiming their third Champions League title in a row.

Zinedine Zidane announced his decision to step down after three years in charge shortly after midday.

The Spanish giants lifted the Champions League trophy for the third season running after beating Liverpool last Saturday, but it's their league performances that have brought the spotlight onto Zidane.

Madrid finished third in La Liga, 17 points behind great rivals Barcelona and two points behind their city rival Atletico Madrid.

One of the most remarkable statistics about his managerial career is that he has never NOT won the Champions League as manager.

The 45 year old played for Real Madrid between 2001 and 2006, winning six trophies, including the Champions League in 2002 against Bayer Leverkusen.

He scored the winning goal that night, and it has gone down as one of the greatest goals ever to be scored in a Champions League final.
