Wine was a popular choice for many during the pandemic.

Wine sales in Ireland fell 13 per cent last year, according to Drinks Ireland.

Over 120 million bottles were sold in 2020, but last year's figure sat at 105 million.

That marks the lowest sales of the product since 2015.

The drop follows a record-breaking year of sales during lockdown.

Wine was one of the most popular stay-at-home drinks.

John McDaid of Drinks Ireland says there's been an overall decrease in consumption of alcohol:

"It's following on a very successful or record-breaking year in 2020," he said.

"2020, it was a record year for wine sales, which was up significantly from the previous year."
