The research was published in the Journal of Public Health.

Shows like Love Island and Made in Chelsea could be exposing young people to alcohol use.

A new study by a group of researchers looked at 264 episodes from 20 reality TV programmes.

Alcohol appeared in almost 40% of ad breaks and it was present at least once in 98% of episodes.

Conversely, tobacco products were only seen in 2% of episodes.

It's being considered whether it's a potential driver of alcohol use in young people.

Wine and champagne were the most common alcohol seen in episodes.

The Alcohol Health Alliance UK has responded to the findings of the study.

They say reality shows are 'bombarding' young people with images of alcohol consumption.

Psychologist Dr Alex Barker spoke about the study and one incident in particular.

"There was one particular brand of whiskey that was on the shelves in the bar."

"This particular brand appeared fourteen times in this particular scene."
