It's emerged that people are getting phone bills costing hundreds of euro when they come back from their holidays.

A survey from Switcher.ie has found that bills up to €700 are being sent out to people.

It's found that two thirds of Irish consumers aren't actually sure about recent EU roaming rules.

The new rules mean the rates for calls and texts remain the same as your plan ie. if you get free calls on your plan, then you get free calls in the EU.

However, the confusion surrounds the rules over mobile data.

The EU regulations mean that data is capped if you're roaming within the continent, no matter what your plan is.

So, if you have unlimited data as part of your plan, that means you will NOT have the same benefits if you're roaming within the EU.
