The Red Cow junction on a Wednesday evening is the most common time and place for accidents on the M50.

Figures obtained by TheJournal.ie show nearly 2,000 collisions have happened on the motorway over the last four years.

The number of accidents on the Dublin motorway has also rose in recent years. There were 397 collisions in 2014, 560 in 2015, and 611 last year. So far this year, 183 accidents have been recorded on the M50.

It takes an average of 47 minutes to clear a crash on the M50 and the longest time taken to clear one individual incident was 92 hours, or close to four days.

Wednesday at 6pm is when you're most likely to crash your car on the motorway while the Red Cow junction has seen the greatest number of accidents since 2013.

That was followed by Junction 7 Lucan exit, Junction 6 Blanchardstown exit and the exit towards Dublin Airport.
