Rent prices continue to reach all-time highs, despite recent new laws to limit how much they can go up by per year.

The latest report on rent found that the average prices have now gone up 11 and a half percent across the country in the year up to March.

That means it now costs €1,261 to rent a home in Ireland on average.

Limerick has seen the biggest jump, with prices going up 17.1% there.

Meanwhile in Dublin, rent prices went up 12.4% on average.

The report also found that supply is the biggest issue facing the rental market, with not enough properties available to meet demand.

For Dublin alone, 200 apartments would need to be opened every week until the 2080s to cope with the demand.
