National Chipping Week is just around the corner and it is a week that we can give our lovable pets all the security we can. Dogs Trust will be offering free micochipping to all dogs.

Dogs Trust Ireland have launched the details of the campaign that will be run from the 13th to the 19th of August in association with Government approved microchipping database Fido.

The aim is to get more dogs chipped so they can be reunited with their owners when they get lost.

It has been a legal requirement to have your dog microchipped since 2016, however last year, only a quarter of stray dogs entering Irish Pounds were reunited with their owners. Dogs Trust believes through microchipping and correct registration, this figure could be greatly improved.

There will be free microchipping clinics at Maxi Zoo stores in Bray on the 13th of August, Maynooth on the 14th, Tallaght on the 16th and Finglas on the 17th. For more information on the awareness campaign please click here
