Revenge pornography laws being discussed

People who are convicted of revenge pornography could face heavy fines and up to seven years in jail.

New laws are being considered this morning which would make it an offence to share indecent photos of people without their permission.

The bill also targets threatening messages sent online and creates specific offences of stalking and upskirting.

Labour leader Brendan Howlin has been working with the government on a bill.

It would create new criminal offences around revenge porn and taking indecent images of someone.

It would also extend the laws around harassment to take in messages sent online.
