Investigation into Kevin Lunney attack

A man in his 50s who is suspected of being involved in the abduction of Kevin Lunney has died in the UK.

He took ill while Police were carrying out a search at his home in Derbyshire this morning.

It was one of many searches being carried out across Ireland and the UK.

It is part of the investigation into the abduction and assault of the Quinn Industrial Holdings director.

An Garda Siochana and the PSNI have formally launched a joint investigation into the ongoing campaign of intimidation of QIH management.

Gardaí have been searching 12 locations south of the border while the PSNI have been searching five locations in the North.

Meanwhile, British police were searching the home in Derbyshire.

Gardaí said the searches were “part of the evidence gathering stage” of the cross-border investigation into Mr Lunney’s ordeal on the 17th September.

Investigators are continuing to appeal to anyone with any information on this “vicious criminal attack or any other criminal activities which have taken place in the Cavan/Fermanagh border area over recent years” to contact them.

They are interested in any information, “no matter how insignificant it appears.”
