As the summer progresses, more Irish are heading abroad.

Over 428,000 people travelled out of Ireland in July.

That's more than twice as many as those who travelled abroad in June.

However, the number is still down around 80% on pre-pandemic stats.

The UK and Spain were the most popular foreign holiday destinations for the Irish.

The statistics come as Dublin Airport suffered from long queues at security over the weekend.

The numbers of overseas travelers into Ireland has also increased - by 138% in July.

Over 380,000 visitors travelled into Ireland in July.

It's an increase on the previous month, but less than the number of Irish heading away.
