Five years?
Today, Arctic Monkeys released their follow-up to 2013's AM and the world had a very mixed reaction to it.
It's called Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino and has 11 tracks in total. Ahead of its midnight release, the lads popped in to see Jimmy Fallon and performed a track from the album, Four Out of Five.
They chose not to release any singles prior to the album release, so apart from live versions, for many this morning was their first time hearing the songs.
Here's just some of the mixed reactions to Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino:
New arctic monkeys album is so good. Love how it's trolling the idiots who want another AM or a repeat of 2006. It's musical brilliance. If you don't appreciate it then I feel sorry for you! #tranquilitybasehotelandcasino #ArcticMonkeys

tranquility base hotel and casino is the most interesting arctic monkeys album both musically and thematically and if alex turner did open a taco stand on the moon I’d be first in line

Desperately trying to like the new arctic monkeys album. Waiting for the real album to drop and for Alex to tell us this is a sick joke to con anyone who thinks they’re better coz they “love” it. #ArcticMonkeys #TranquilityBaseHotelCasino pic.twitter.com/09NolaAah2

Jesus that Arctic Monkeys album is tragic. Sure, there’s some nice textures on there, some interesting sounds and signature Alex Turner lyrics however it’s just Sci-Fi Spandau Ballet.

Arctic Monkeys album is just Alex Turner reading out a trip advisor review as the rest of the band tries to figure out wtf is happening.
