A flight into Ireland that contained 13 people infected with COVID-19 led to  59 cases around the country

The outbreak occurred during the summer, according to a new EU report on air travel.

This group of 13 people who had the virus got on the plane after arriving from three different continents.

The youngest case was just one-year-old, while the oldest was 65.

12 of the group were asymptomatic.

However, details of where the plane came from and where it landed have been kept off the Eurosurveillance report.

The flight was seven and a half hours long, and had 49 passengers and 12 crew on board.

Additionally, some of those passengers had spent hours in the airport ahead of boarding.

When the aircraft touched down in Ireland, those passengers then continued on to their final destinations around the country.

Those 13 went on to infect 46 others, which totalled 59 cases in six of the eight HSE regions.

Four people had to be hospitalised and one was admitted to intensive care.
