The Department of Transport is being urged to use regional airports to solve the DAA's crisis.

Limerick Chamber says transferring certain flights to Shannon, Cork, Knock, and Kerry airports will relieve some of the pressure on Dublin.

The chamber's CEO, Dee Ryan, believes aviation policy needs to have an all-Ireland approach if it's going to recover post-pandemic.

Earlier today it was revealed that almost 16.4 million Euro has been allocated to regional airports throughout the country.

The Minister of State at the Department of Transport Hildegarde Naughton says the funds will be used to bolster safety and security at relevant airports:

"This €16.4 million will be Ireland West Airport Knock, Donegal Airport, Kerry and also Cork and Shannon Airport-which will come under the Regional Airports Programme as well. So this is for safety and security projects at our regional airports across the country. This is a further commitment to ensuring airports are supported and that they can invest in capital projects.".
