Festivals To Cut Down On Plastic Use

The organisation representing the UK's independent festivals insists changes to cut single-use plastic will be seen at events throughout the summer.

It's now hoped similar recycling measures will be rolled out at festivals here. 61 music gatherings have promised to get rid of things like straws and cups by 2021.

Paul Reed is the Chief Executive of the Association of Independent Festivals says steps need to be taken:

"Given the environmental footprint of the industry its time to take some collective affirmative action there is 23,000 tonnes of waste generated annually at camping festivals."
