Farmers on TikTok

The Irish Farmers Association says people who have been making dangerous social media videos on farms should be fired.

Numerous videos have emerged on TikTok of people messing with farm machinery and tractors.

"Shocking," "grossly irresponsible," and, "an accident waiting to happen."

These are just some of the reactions to these videos which have been put on TikTok.

A young man can been seen in one video sitting on the front of a moving tractor laughing.

In another a man is videoing himself while also balancing on the drawbar of a moving trailer.

Both the HSA and the IFA say farmers and and contractors need to make it clear to workers that they could be fired if they take part in these videos.

IFA President Tim Cullinan has hit out at people who are recording the pranks.

"This practice is grossly irresponsible and is an accident waiting to happen.

"I am disgusted that people could be so casual and have no regard for the dangers involved in what they are doing".

Eight people have been killed on Irish farms so far this year.

Mr Cullinan said: "Too often, people are not willing to act responsibly and identify the risks.

"All farmers and contractors need to make it clear to their employees that engaging in these practices is a sackable offence".
