An exit poll released tonight has suggested that Ireland has voted to repeal the Eighth Amendment.

The Irish Times/Ipsos MRBI poll says that the YES side of the debate has claimed a 'landslide' win, with 68% in favour of repealing the Eighth Amendment and 32% voting to keep it.

4000 people were polled across the entire country in every constituency, and has a margin of error of 1.5%

Looking into the numbers, the poll projects a 77% Yes vote for Dublin, while it predicts a massive vote in favour of repeal among younger voters, with 87% of 18 to 24-year-olds saying yes.

The poll was released just after the polling stations closed at 10pm.

RTE will release another exit poll later.

Remember, these polls are not the definitive result, but they do leave us with a decent idea as to how the count will work out.

Counting starts tomorrow morning.
