Swimming ban

A swimming ban will remain in place at eight beaches in Dublin until next week.

It's after a sewage overflow at the Ringsend wastewater treatment plant following heavy rain this week.

Irish Water says it's investing €400 million to upgrade the plant so an incident like this doesn't happen again.

Some beaches in north Dublin also have temporary bathing bans in place until the water quality returns to safe levels.
