It was the election that caught the attention of the world, and now it looks like the 2016 US Presidential race is set to become a movie.

Donald Trump upset the odds (in the opinions of many) to beat Hillary Clinton to become the new Commander-in-Chief, and now HBO have commissioned a miniseries about it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be a follow up to the hugely successful 2012 flick Game Change, which showcased the camp of John McCain and Sarah Palin when they lost the election to Barack Obama in 2008.

It's been revealed the director of Game Change, Jay Roach, will also take charge of the Trump/Clinton follow-up, as they look to document the election that had the world talking.

Roach will be working alongside Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, who are already writing a book about Trump's election victory.

It's not clear who the series will focus on specifically, and there's no reports of anyone in line to play a character.

Game Change was nominated for 12 Emmy awards and won 5, including Best Actress for Julianne Moore who portrayed Sarah Palin.
