Pro-choice activist Rosa have organised a 'Bus4Repeal to highlight the need of safe and legal abortions across Ireland.

They're calling for the 8th Amendment to be removed from the Constitution rather than replaced with a similar law that would again legislate for terminations.

Spokesperson for the organisation Rita Harrold said “50 activists are travelling on the bus. Our first stop was UCD. Now we’re heading to Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Maynooth. We’ll be back in Dublin to March4Repeal on International Women’s Day.”

Anti-Austerity Alliance TD Ruth Coppinger, who is travelling on the first day of the Bus 4 Repeal, said "In a week hundreds of babies bodies were found in one of Ireland's infamous 'mother and baby homes', the Bus4Repeal is a timely action promoting women's autonomy over their own bodies and lives - without interference from Church or state."

The Bus4Repeal supports the global week of action for women's rights and culminates in the Strike and March for Repeal on International Women's Day.

ROSA activist Keishia Taylor, added “This Wednesday is International Women's Day, when there will be large-scale women's strikes around the world and the Strike 4 Repeal here in Ireland to demand an immediate referendum to repeal, not replace, the 8th amendment.

The bus will visit Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Maynooth over the next three days, giving supporters a chance to get involved in the moment.
