Man Hospitalised Following Acid Attack At House Party In Limerick

Acid attack

A man his early 20s has been hospitalised after acid was thrown at his face in Limerick.

It happened at a house party on Saturday night in Garryowen.

Gardaí say no arrests have yet been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Fianna Fáil TD for Limerick City, Willie O'Dea, says it was a horrific assault:

"The whole situation culminating with someone throwing acid in his face."

It literally disfigured him, which was an appalling and monstrous, a bestial thing to do."

"The level of violence and the level and aggression between human beings seems to be on the increase all of the time."

In a statment gardaí say:

"Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault incident that occurred at a house in Garryowen, Co Limerick on the night of June 13."

"A man is alleged to have had a substance thrown in his face during the incident. The man presented himself to University Hospital Limerick for treatment."

"No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing."
