100 Water Schemes At A 'Critical Level' Across The Country

The heatwave is playing havoc with the water levels.

Irish Water has already restricted a number of supplies in the Greater Dublin Area overnight, but it's feared long term restrictions may need to be imposed if the spell of hot weather continues.

Demand in the Greater Dublin Area has reached 'unsubstantial' levels at around 600 million litres a day.

People are being urged to conserve water where and when they can.

We're being asked to have short showers, and to avoid washing the car or watering the garden.
