KUWTK

It's the end of an era. The KUWTK series finale airs on E! today.

Ahead of its release, we thought we'd take you through some surprising behind the scenes secrets.

1. Exterior shots

It turns out the exterior shots of the Kardashians' homes aren't their real houses.

This is because they don't want fans finding out where they live, and showing up at their front doors.

Kim previously explained this on Twitter when she was asked by a fan.

She explained, 'When we film inside, that's obviously our real home.'

'My old home in Beverly Hills was really my home and I would get people showing up at all hours ringing my gate and had to call the police on several occasions.'

2. Kim produces the most

According to Kim, she produces the most out of everyone on the show.

She previously told The Hollywood Reporter, 'I’m very aware of what fans want to see.'

'I think if you ask the crew, I probably produce the most, because I know what my sisters might not be sharing.'

'So I’ll tell them, "Go over to Kourt’s house right now. Something is going on."'

But of course, first in line is Kris Jenner, aka the momager.

3. All about the angles

The Kardashian clan have a big say in what does and doesn't go out on air.

Kris told The Hollywood Reporter, 'I’m not going to lie, there’s been times when I’ve walked away from the camera and I’ve got a big bump in my hair and I’m like, "Take that out, my hair looks like sh*t."'

'I’m too vain to leave really ugly, ugly angles in.'

4. NDAs are a must

Everyone on the show has to sign a non disclosure agreement before filming.

Kim made the revelation while live tweeting during an episode in 2019.

She simply wrote, 'Btw NDA’S for all!!!!'

According to Cosmopolitan, Kris Jenner keeps a stack of them by her front door at all times.

You never know when you might need a couple NDAs in the Kardashian/ Jenner household.

5. Shoe coverings

Producers have to put on shoe coverings before stepping foot in Kris' home, according to reports.

This fun fact was revealed in a New York Times article on the momager.

As quoted by Cosmopolitan, they described, 'a production assistant in surgical shoe coverings,' at Kris' home.

6. Makeup and hair

According to Paper Magazine, Kim spends roughly two hours each day in hair and makeup.

She said, 'There's nothing we can do that's not documented, so why not look your best, and amazing?'

Kendall revealed in an interview with Elle that Kris makes them get their nails done weekly.

'She would have a nail artist come to the house once a week and she would make us get our nails done.'

'She was like, "You are never going to look like you're not put together." So we were always getting them done.'

7. Guest appearances

Guests are usually paid for their appearances on the show.

According to Cosmopolitan, a source previously told NY Daily News that French Montana was paid for his appearance.

And he was dating Khloé at the time!

'Usually, to add a cast member to a show, you’d have to fire a cast member to keep the budget balanced.'

'But in this case, Kris just offered French Montana a check to be in the show.'

'He’s expensive, and some people at E! just don’t think he’s worth the money,' they alleged.

8. Mic'd up

The Kardashians spend their lives mic'd up, and it can be difficult at times.

Kourtney previously told The Hollywood Reporter, 'I remember in season one being like, "I have to go the bathroom," and I’d cry in there as quietly as I could because I was still mic'd.'

'I never want to cry in front of cameras,' she said.

9. iPhones

Some of the show is filmed using iPhones.

According to The Sun, former executive producer, Jeff Jenkins, revealed this fact with The Hollywood Reporter.

He said, 'There are days when there might be 30 crew people at a location to cover an event and there are days where there may be one person with an iPhone covering something incredibly intimate.'

The Kardashian/ Jenner clan also used iPhones to film at the beginning of the pandemic when the world went into lockdown.

Executive producer Farnaz Farjam told Elle that Kris suggested they film the footage themselves from their respective homes.

So the family recorded the show through Zoom calls and use of their mobile phones.

10. No paid expenses

It turns out the family pay for all those luxurious vacations featured on the show themselves.

Kourtney kicked up a fuss about this in an episode from season 18.

As quoted by The Sun, she said, 'Why am I being sent this other huge bill? Why isn’t production chipping in if we’re using it for the show?'

The series finale of KUWTK premieres today in the US.
