We've teamed up with SpunOut.ie

SPIN1038 and SpunOut.ie have teamed up to make sure you’re minding yourself throughout the Covid-19 crisis.

We get it's hard to get your head around some of the changes you may be experiencing from your work life to dealing with extra anxiety and exam stress.

But what matters is that you speak with someone if it all gets too much or you need some guidance.

Adapting to working from home

Adapting to working from home can take time.

Here are some things to keep in mind that can help with the process:

Create a work space

Having a work space that is different to where you relax or sleep is important.

If you can, create your own space that is away from noise and other distractions.

During these times we may need to be creative about where we work - even if that means setting up a homemade desk for yourself.

Develop a routine

Depending on your working you may have more flexibility in your routine than you would normally have.

Try to create a routine that works for you.

Make sure to take proper lunch and tea breaks.

Step away from your work space when you do this so you feel like you have taken a break.

When you are finished work for the day, switch off your work laptop or phone, if possible, so you aren’t tempted to check emails after work.

Connect with others

Connecting with others is essential for positive wellbeing.

Schedule video calls with colleagues to discuss what you are working on instead of through email.

If you can, schedule a virtual lunch or coffee with your colleagues so you can keep in touch with each other.

Outside of work hours, make sure you continue to connect with friends.

Be active

Having to stay at home during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic means we’re more likely to be less active.

Although it’s still okay to go outside, keeping our distance from other people makes it harder to get exercise outdoors.

However, getting exercise is a really good way of looking after our wellbeing, check out our suggestions for exercising at home here.

Eat Well

It can be easy to graze on snacks when you’re spending time at home, but try your best to plan for three healthy meals a day.

It’s okay to eat less healthy food every now and then, but eating well is good for your mental and physical wellbeing and can help to give you more energy and feel better.

Get some sleep

As our daily routine changes this can have an impact on our sleep routine, we may be getting up and going to bed later than usual.

When working from home, it’s important to try and get enough quality sleep for you.

If you are not getting good quality sleep it can impact other aspects of your life and health, including your mental health.
