Do you do your bit for the environment?

While we're all thinking about keep cups and metal straws, are we thinking about how to properly disposing of chewing gum?

Gum Litter Taskforce launched an educational campaign around gum litter yesterday.

They want to educate people on the importance of properly disposing of chewing gum.

And all you have to do is bin it!

The facts

Since GLT's establishment in 2006, they have seen a positive switch in people's attitude.

As a result of last year's campaign, 92% of people now consider dropped gum as litter while 86% of people say they dispose of their gum correctly

According to another report chewing gum now makes up only 8% of all litter dropped.

A huge decrease, considering it accounted for almost 30% of litter 10 years ago.

The campaign

Did you know those caught spitting or dropping gum can be fined €150?

Gum Litter Taskforce works alongside local communities and schools to roll out their campaigns.

Through programmes and public awareness, GLT educates around the impact of gum litter.

Their aim is to change people's behaviour around how they dispose of their gum!
