Christmas is for catching up and what better way to do it than over a festive afternoon tea.

Here are five spots in or around Dublin city centre serving up Christmassy menus this year:

1. The Westbury

You'll be served honey baked Limerick ham and smoked turkey breast sandwiches and for the sweet course red velvet macaroons, mandarin tarts and chestnut brúlée with gingerbread.

2. The Shelbourne

On the menu is house smoked Castletownbere salmon, Tola goat's cheese, pumpkin bread, red velvet cake, white chocolate mousse and meringue kisses.

2. The Restaurant at Brown Thomas

The menu includes s'mores, cranberry and pecan scones, festive Mediterranean skewers, orange hot chocolate, and a selection of Christmassy cocktails.

4. The Merrion

Gingerbread, Viennese rolls, meringues and mince pies are just some of the homemade festive treats on the menu.

5. The Intercontinental Dublin

Expect chocolate orange and hazelnut sponge, panettone bread and butter pudding, Christmas cheesecake, ginger yogurt pannacotta, lemon cinnamon posset with fig jam and more.

Festive afternoon tea bookings fill up fast so if you're planning on a day out we advise booking sooner rather than later.
