Three deadly new programmes to get involved with this week:
1) The Grand Tour, Series 2 on Amazon Prime, From Friday
If you're a fan of the former Top Gear lads, you'll have to make friends with someone who has Amazon Prime. Jeremy Clarkson and the lads are back for the second series of their new show, which will see them travel to Mozambique, Switzerland and the UK. The series will also feature Richard Hammond's second near fatal crash- this time while driving a £2 million super car in Switzerland- it flew off a hill during a hill climb and burst into flames. His family have said they won't be watching it, fair enough. If you're not Richard Hammond's family thought, this is a great all-rounder series for the whole fam this Christmas.
2) My Astonishing Self: Gabriel Byrne on George Bernard Shaw- Wed, RTÉ 1 at 9.35pm
If you've ever wanted to find out more about the man the Bernard Shaw pub is named after...this ones for you. Presented by actor Gabriel Byrne, this one off documentary looks at the life and work of Irish playwright and political activist, George Bernard Shaw. Gabriel Byrne considers him Ireland's most important writer and political activist - he used his drama to express his strong opinions and try and bring about change to the country. He is also the only person to have won a Nobel Prize and an Academy Award (for his work on the movie Pygmalion adapted from his play of the same name). He was also a famous vegetarian. Actors Gemma Arterton and Ralph Fiennes contribute to this documentary, along with President Michael D Higgins and Dara O'Briain.
3) The Crown- Series 2, Netflix from Friday
We are giddy with excitement for this one. Fans of the show will already have seen teasers for this new series starring Clare Foy and Matt Smith as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. This season tackles the events of the Royals between 1957-1964, including the births of Prince Andrew and Edward; Princess Margaret enters a new relationship with photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones who she ends of marrying and we see Elizabeth having to deal with her husband's wild antics.
