Three new shows to get stuck into this week!

1) First Dates Ireland, RTÉ 2- Tuesday at 9.30pm

This is the third series of the Irish version of this show- with thousands of applications, we can't wait to see what gas characters turn up in the First Dates restaurant this time. This series will also see a few firsts for First Dates Ireland, including the programme's first trans dater and first deaf dater.

And if that's not enough First Dates for you- First Dates Hotel (the UK version) will air on Channel 4 tonight (Monday) at 10pm and will see daters whisked off to Italy for their first date, not too shabby!

2) Derry Girls, Channel 4- Thursday at 10pm

This technically started last week but it's so good, we have to talk about it this week! Derry Girls has been described as 'the Inbetweeners for clever girls'. It's a comedy series created by Lisa McGee about her experiences of growing up in Derry in 1994 during The Troubles. The show revolves around 16 year old Erin Quinn and her mates. It also sees Tommy Tiernan in his first major acting role since Father Ted, he plays Erin's dad Gerry. Lisa McGee said she wanted to show another side of the North- she said it was “a brilliant place to live and grow up. I just thought ‘someone needs to show the other side of it’ – that these people are funny. You never got to see that side of Northern Ireland.”

3) Vikings, RTÉ Two- Wednesday at 9pm

Shot in Wicklow, we are now into our fifth series of Vikings. The Vikings have reached the middle of England now and we follow them on their quest to conquer the town of York and establish it as their stronghold. However tensions between Ragnar's sons threaten to spark a civil war. Jonathan Rhys Meyers joins the cast too as a warrior bishop called Heahmund, who leads the Saxons to defend their kingdom, he was introduced at the end of season 4.
