Most of the country is under a thunderstorm warning until 9pm tonight.
Met Éireann's issued the alert for 23 counties - apart from Dublin, Wicklow and Donegal which may remain dry.
Heavy rain is expected with the midlands and south of the country to be worst affected by adverse weather conditions.
"Thunderstorms, like yesterday, could bring some very heavy downpours with the risk of some spot flooding which may lead to hazardous driving conditions at times," warned Meteorologist with Met Éireann Paul Downes, who is urging motorists to be cautious.
