The International Rose of Tralee is moving venues this year.

The event is usually broadcast from the Festival Dome on MTU's North Campus in Tralee.

However, this year's 33 contestants will take to a new stage at the Kerry Sports Academy on the 22nd and 23rd of August.

The Dome marquee will still be used for other events throughout the festival.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, organisers have confirmed it is returning in August.

Executive Chairman Anthony O'Gara says he's delighted the festival is back up and running:

"It's a very exciting year for us. We were actually due to be there in 2020. We were a little nervous that some of the international centres might not make it but so far we're at 100% which is incredible. We wouldn't have imagined it even 6 months ago".

Mr. O'Gara predicts this year will be the biggest the festival has seen in a long time:

"If anything we anticipate the figures are going to be up this year. I mean you could get a couple of hundred thousand people in Tralee over the 5-6 days. It's a big, big event in town, it's been going now since the 50's. There's a huge amount of effort put into the festivities throughout the town".
