Gardai say they're "providing every assistance" to the Scotland Yard investigation into the London terror attacks.

It's after it emerged one of the attackers had an Irish ID card on him when he was shot dead, and it's understood he may have lived here for a time.

The man was not known to Gardaí here and did not come to their attention in relation to any crime or security issues. The man is believed to have been of Moroccan origin and the Irish Daily Star report he lived in Rathmines until as recently as one year ago.

A number of people have been detained in London in relation to Saturday night's attacks. Raids took place this morning in Newham and Dagenham, eleven people have been arrested and are still being questioned. Police say they know the identities of the three men who carried out the van and knife rampage, but won't name them yet.

Theresa May confirmed the threat level in the UK will remain at severe.
