The Department of Health has been notified of 393 new cases of Covid-19.

There are currently 48 people in hospital with the virus, down 10 on the same day last week.

While 14 Covid patients are in intensive care, down 8 over the same period.

Meanwhile Leo Varadkar says it is unfair to expect young people to wait until being fully vaccinated before travelling abroad.

The CMO said this week people should only leave Ireland if they have got their vaccine dose.

This would leave people in their 20s waiting several months to travel.

But the Tánaiste says the government may take a different approach.

"The science is very strong that people who are fully vaccinated are highly unlikely to pick up the virus," he said, "but sometimes the government has to look at other issues and we think it would be very unfair."
