Talks between management and unions at Bus Eireann have broken down without agreement.

It was hoped buses would be back on the road this morning after talks had been taking place over the last number of days at the Workplace Relations Commission.

Workers have been on an all-out strike in a row over cost-cutting measures due to be implemented by the company.

In a statement, Bus Eireann have confirmed unions have referred a number of issues to the Labour court, which the company says will attend.

In addition, Bus Eireann have said: "While progress was made and agreement was reached to eliminate many work practise inefficiencies, an offer made by the company that would help to deliver financial viability was rejected by the Trade Unions representing the driver grade."
