Up to 150,000 young people are not registered to vote in next month's abortion referendum.

There's just over one week to go to sign up.

James Doorley from the National Youth Council of Ireland says it's important for young people to have a voice.

"We're reminding young people - particularly those who have turned 18 since the last general election - that if they want to vote in the referendum on the 25th of May they need to make sure they're on the register."

"The best way to do that is to go to the website checktheregsiter.ie. If they're on that they can vote - if not they need to get on the supplementary register."
