Louis Theroux has three new documentaries airing on the BBC this year the first of which is out next week.

According to the BBC 'Louis Theroux: Dark States - Heroin Town' will focus on "America's love affair with prescription painkillers."

A crackdown on over-prescribing painkillers has meant that two million Americans are turning to harder, cheaper and more easily accessible drugs to deal with their addictions and "for the first time in over two decades, life expectancy in the US is declining - largely attributed to the rise in fatal heroin overdoses."

Louis will be meeting the community in Huntington, West Virginia which is described as "ground zero of the nation’s heroin epidemic".

'Louis Theroux: Dark States - Heroin Town' airs on BBC Two, Sunday 8th October at 9pm.

The two other documentaries 'Murder in Milwaukee' and 'Sex Trafficking' are out later this year.
