SPIN's Sarina Bellissimo caught up with Felicity Jones and Shailene Woodley to chat about their new movie The Last Letter From Your Lover.

She also spoke to author JoJo Moyes and director Augustine Frizzell ahead of the film's release this Friday.

Before we get to the interviews, you might be wondering what the movie is all about.

It follows the forbidden love affair between a 1960s couple (Shailene Woodley and Callum Turner).

Their story is uncovered by an ambitious present-day journalist (Felicity Jones) after she finds a trove of secret love letters.

Sarina spoke to the girls about the importance of writing a letter over sending a text.

Felicity agreed that receiving a card or a letter just feels so much more special, "It's the fact that it takes the effort to do it."

"It's so meaningful when you do it. It's such a perfect moment to be celebrating that kind of connection through this film."

Shailene added, "Handwriting is such a generational thing."

"My mother's generation has a particular style, and her mother's generation has a particular style."

"If you go to a flea market and pick up a postcard from the '20s, that is very different script than the '50s, or the '60s."

"I think that letters are such a beautiful way to timestamp the truth of an experience throughout time."

"Whereas when you're texting, you don't really expose yourself as vulnerably as you would when you're sitting there and really putting your thoughts to paper."
