Dr. Alex is glad the lie detector is gone

You may have noticed the lie detector challenge was absent from this years series of Love Island.

Former islander Dr. Alex admits he's actually happy it's gone and hopes it never makes a return.

The A & E doctor appeared in last year's series and the detector was not kind to him.

According to the lie detector, the majority of answers the islander gave were lies.

Judging from Alex's reaction during the challenge, he was extremely stressed out while the islanders watched on.

The test caused a massive riff between him and his partner Alexandra.

He was asked multiple questions about Alexandra including if he believed that their relationship was genuine.

When asked if he would couple up with another girl in the villa, he said he wouldn't. However, the test indicated he would.

Alex explains why he's happy it's gone

In an interview with Racing Post the doctor said, "I can't remember what it was but I answered a question truthfully and it said it was false."

"The more you protest, the more everyone thinks you're definitely lying."

He added, as a result, "Detectors which measure pulse or respiratory rate aren't that accurate quite frankly."

"I am glad it has gone, hopefully forever."
