Derry Girls Wins The Comedy Award At The IFTAs

The IFTA Gala Television Awards took place at the RDS Concert Hall last night and the Derry Girls won the Comedy award.

The show based around the troubles in Derry saw off the challenge of The Young Offenders, Bridget and Eamon and Mrs. Brown’s Boys.

Chris Walley, who plays Jock in The Young Offenders, claimed the Male Performance award while Sharon Horgan won the female prize.

Broadcaster Shay Healy received a lifetime achievement award while Dancing with the Stars won in the Entertainment category.

Saoirse Monica Jackson who plays Erin in Derry Girls was unable to make the awards, but the girls made sure she was there in spirit:
