You know it's the new year when all the fantastic weekend programmes return.

Dancing with the Stars returns to RTÉ One this Sunday at 6.30pm.

This year is the second year the show has aired in Ireland and last's year show was won by Kerry footballer Aidan O'Mahony.

This year's judging panel will see all three judges from last year return - Julian Benson, Loraine Barry and Brian Redmond.

However, Julian is set to miss this week and next week's show due to illness.

Also returning are main hosts Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram, spin-off show host Bláthnaid Treacy and social media correspondent James Patrice.

The line up of this year's celebrities were revealed in early December. Taking part are:

  • Anna Geary - Cork Camoige star
  • Alannah Beirne - Model
  • Bernard O'Shea - Broadcaster
  • Deirdre O'Kane - Comedian and actress
  • Erin McGregor - Fitness model and former bodybuilder
  • Jake Carter - Musician
  • Maia Dunphy - Author and broadcaster
  • Marty Morrissey - Sports broadcaster
  • Norah Casey - Businesswoman and broadcaster
  • Rob Heffernan - Olympic athlete
  • Tomas O'Leary - Ex-Munster rugby player

Model Aoife Walsh was originally supposed to take part but a week before Christmas, she was forced to pull out of the show due to a fractured toe.

It was then revealed that Britain's Next Top Model finalist Alannah Beirne will take her place.

The boys are set to perform tonight and the girls will dance next week. They'll all be scored and the scores will carry over to week three.

In week three of the show all contestants will perform again and then the first couple will be eliminated.

The show will finish at the end of March.

Here's to three months of glitter and quicksteps!
