Leaving Cert results day
Just under 60,000 students received their Leaving Cert results this morning.
This year marks the second time a new grading system was used, following it's introduction in 2017.
Here's how the new system works:
The numbers 1-8 are then converted into points.
The Common Points Scale or CPS will then determine entry into third level institutions via the CAO.
This is how those points are calculated:
Certain students who took Honours Maths will receive extra points this year.
Those who get a H6 or higher are granted an extra 25 points, although their overall grade will not change.
Working out your total points is a little confusing, especially when you're dealing with all those extra emotions.
Thankfully, Careers Portal has created a handy calculator to do the work for you!
You can access it here.
