A Handy Calculator For Working Out Your Leaving Cert Points

Leaving Cert results day

Just under 60,000 students received their Leaving Cert results this morning.

This year marks the second time a new grading system was used, following it's introduction in 2017.

Here's how the new system works:

The numbers 1-8 are then converted into points.

The Common Points Scale or CPS will then determine entry into third level institutions via the CAO.

This is how those points are calculated:

Bonus

Certain students who took Honours Maths will receive extra points this year.

Those who get a H6 or higher are granted an extra 25 points, although their overall grade will not change.

Calculator

Working out your total points is a little confusing, especially when you're dealing with all those extra emotions.
