Explore South Dublin City

With a lot of our usual summer plans on hold this year, there's never been a better time to explore your hometown.

Dublin is full of quirky things to do, whether you're looking for great food, fun activities or to learn something new about our capital.

We've teamed up with VisitDublin.com to show you what's on offer right on your doorstep.

The Little Museum Of Dublin

Set in a beautiful Georgian house overlooking St Stephen's Green, The Little Museum tells the story of the city.

Here you'll learn about the things that shaped Dublin, from James Joyce to the global success of U2. You're bound to leave knowing something you didn't before.

The museum's collection was curated through public donation, so it houses some very unique and interesting objects!

Cooks Academy cookery school

Looking to do something fun and different with your friends? Why not take a cookery class?

Cooks Academy is nestled in Dublin's Creative Quarter on South William street and offers all types of classes.

Their classes cover everything from the basics to baking, sushi making to healthier options.

Whether you want to take a course or simply learn to make one of your favourite dishes, you're guaranteed a fun day out.

Take A Walking Tour

Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the city by exploring it all on foot.

With most of South Dublin's main attractions within walking distance, you can pack a lot in.

Check out Dublin Castle, City Hall, the city's many stunning cathedrals and Temple Bar.

A number of guided walking tours are available or you can use the Dublin Discovery Trails App to take it at your own pace.

Luxury Afternoon Tea

Dublin is home to a number of top 5 star hotels including The Shelbourne, The Westbury and The Westin.

If you're looking to treat yourself you can't beat their luxurious afternoon tea options.

There's something about finger sandwiches and tiny cakes that make us feel super fancy!

Combine it with a browse of some of Dublin's best shopping in Stephen's Green, Grafton Street and The Powerscourt Centre.

The National Wax Museum Plus

Now located on Westmoreland Street, The National Wax Museum Plus is much more than a wax museum these days.

The attraction now also features interactive exhibits as well as original wax figures and characters from Irish history.

You can check out the Time Vaults of Irish History and Mythology, which recreates Ireland’s cultural heritage down through the ages.

Rent A Dublin Bike

If you want to take in South Dublin city at your own pace a Dublin Bike is the perfect mode of transport.

With numerous stations available across the city it's super easy to pick one up and head off to explore.

You can check out Christ Church Cathedral and then head down to Great South Wall for views of Poolbeg Lighthouse.

They're also super affordable and environmentally friendly!

Dublin Bay Cruises

Head down the quays and jump on a Dublin Bay Cruise at Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Your voyage allows you to see the city from a whole different perspective and see parts you never would on another mode of transport.

Whether you choose to head north or south you'll be treated to spectacular views, including Howth, Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey Island and Ireland's Eye.

You might even spot some seals or dolphins on your journey!
