"I think there was a bit of miscommunication..."

"But I think if you don’t want to be with someone you don’t want to be with someone."

"Basically all I wanted was a bit of effort from him to come to London or Newcastle to see me."

"On that day I had to cancel as it wasn’t working out. I think the careers and the distance was always a factor."

She goes on, "I don’t know what changed. I wanted to make it work but it is what it is."

"I am disappointed it's over. I’m booked and busy and I'll be fine. Onwards and upwards from here."

Despite her disappointment, she admits, "He’s a lovely guy..."

"But I’m not sure what’s going to happen in the future really."

"It’s a bit of an odd situation."

Greg's side of the story

Amber's story however, doesn't seem to match up with Greg's.

He opened up during an interview alongside Maura Higgins on The Late Late Show over the weekend.

"Me and Amber have been chatting the last few days and the whole thing about [breaking up] over text isn't true."

"But we need to be realistic about the situation, and the fact she's in the UK."

"We're both so busy and we need to take these opportunities and protecting our careers."

"She has every brand wanting to work with her, and I'm trying to make the team for the Olympics with the Ireland 7s."

"It was over a long time, it wasn't just one text."

Greg and Amber

The pair met on this year's series of Love Island.

Greg arrived as Amber's knight in shining armour after her heart was broken by Michael Griffiths.

She had been coupled up with Michael at the start of the series and they were actually really good together.

However, their relationship fell apart during the Casa Amor shock twist when his head was turned by new girl Joanna.

While Amber was staying loyal to Michael, he was cracking on with new girl Joanna.

When she arrived back to see Michael had re-coupled, she was visibly distraught.

It wasn't long before the firefighter revealed he still had feelings for Amber.

However, at this point it was too late because Amber was falling for new islander Greg.

She chose to re-couple with him over Michael and shortly after this, Michael was sent home.

Greg and Amber went on to take home the £50,000 cash prize.

Meanwhile, Amy Hart has just released the audition tape that got her on Love Island.
