Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, has opened up about the problems the singer faced saying they were "worse than people realised" and that industry insiders told him Bieber's career was "over".

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Braun said that his and most people's problems are not "life or death" but that "Justin's stuff got to a point where it was a problem".

Bieber's had quite a bit of controversy over the last few years from reported drug use to the alleged assault of a photographer to arrest for drag racing on a street and even being charged with vandalism for egging a neighbour's house.

Police released an arrest report on the drag racing incident at the time:

Braun says he "failed him day after day. We were living in hell because he was in such a dark place.”

The 36 year old found Bieber on YouTube when he was 13 and says things got so bad a few years ago that "some of the biggest people in the industry, people invested in Justin’s career, told me, ‘It’s over. Focus on something else. That kid is done.'

Braun, though, said he "made a promise to him when he was 13 that I would never give up on him. I plan on keeping that promise."
