Heath Ledger's family have refuted claims that his role as The Joker led to his untimely death.

Speaking at the Tribeca Film Festival, his sister Kate said that Heath was "having fun" with the role. She told The Telegraph "Every report was coming out that he was depressed and that [the role] was taking this toll on him, and we're going, honestly, it was the absolute opposite. It couldn't be more wrong."

Ledger was 28 when he was found dead in his NYC apartment in 2008. He had been open about his trouble with sleeping while filming The Dark Knight. In 2007, he spoke to the New York Times and said "Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night. I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going."

The documentary I Am Heath Ledger features friends and family of the late Heath, remembering his life and career.
