Ukraine's Ambassador has called on the Government to recognise Russia as a terrorist State.

She was speaking as hundreds of people joined a rally outside the GPO in Dublin to condemn the Russian invasion.

Tough Day

Hundreds of Ukrainians turned out to mark a year since their country was invaded.

Three generations of some families are now living in Ireland to escape the violence.

One of the organisers, Anatoly, says it's a tough day as they remember those at home.

"It's a very difficult day because there's a lot of flashback to this time last year."

"Nobody knew what would happen."

Anatoly says he remembers at the time telling reporters Ukraine might not exist in three days time.

Ukrainian Ambassador Larysa Gerasko called on the Government to recognise Russia as a terrorist state, while becoming emotional at the significance of the day.

"It's 365 days of sorrow, of pain, of pride in our people and of hope," she said.

Tanaiste Micheal Martin addressed the crowd.

He told Ukrainians, "our home is your home."

365 days since the war began, and for many here, no idea when they might get to return home.
