The teenage son of Grand National-winning trainer Henry de Bromhead has died, following a racing accident in county Kerry.

13-year-old jockey, Jack de Bromhead, suffered fatal injuries in a fall from a horse at the Glenbeigh Festival yesterday evening.

The event has been cancelled today.

Local Councillor Michael Cahill lives in Glenbeigh and his family were attending the event.

He says it's a terrible tragedy.

"There's a dark cloud over the entire community."

"I'm looking out at the beach now and it's hard to comprehend that such a tragedy happened here yesterday."

"It's one of the most beautiful parts of the world, it's just so so sad."

"Everyone is just in a complete state of shock."
