Web users are being warned that cyber criminals are gathering information on us all the time.
Skimming, phishing and vishing are scams used by criminals to collect personal details from individuals and companies.
The warning comes as experts gather in Dublin today for the 'Zero Day Con' which examines cyber security.
Detective Chief Superintendent Pat Lordan says certain types of online crime is on the rise including 'invoice redirection fraud' where companies are getting an invoice in to be paid and someone within a criminal network convinces someone in the company to change bank details of the supplier.
