Over 100 toilets at UCD are set to be re-designated as gender neutral.

The move is said to be one of a number of policies to make the university more welcoming to transgender and gender-fluid students and employees.

Minister for Children Katherine Zappone will launch the new initiative later today. She's labelled the measures as "a good day for equality".

The Irish Times also says a number of transgender changing facilities will also be introduced at UCD's sports centre.

DCU and DIT have previously reassigned some of their toilets as gender neutral.

Trinity have also began calling its first and second-year students “fresh”, rather than "freshman".
