Normal People was set in Trinity for most of the series

It appears Trinity College has received a so-called 'Normal People bounce' following a record number of applications.

The Irish Times reports over 40,000 applications have been made to the CAO to study courses at the college.

That's an 11% increase on last year.

A spokesperson told the newspaper they were delighted with the 'positive interest shown by students in studying at Trinity'.

However, they admitted it was hard to say what was causing the increase in applications.

"It's hard to quantify what exactly influenced students' decisions, but it seems likely that all the exposure [from Normal People] may well have played a role," the spokesperson said.
