Indoor dining rules being discussed by Cabinet

New rules for the reopening of indoor dining are to be discussed by ministers this morning.

They were drawn up after a round of talks between Government officials and hospitality sector reps.

Premises will still have to close at 11:30pm, despite a push from the industry for later hours.

However, it's expected time limits of 1hr and 45mins will be scrapped.

Unvaccinated children will be allowed to dine with adults if their table is 2m away from other tables.

Digital Covid Certs will be checked at the door, while an app to scan the QR codes is being developed.

Ministers are still aiming to have indoor dining open from Monday the 26th of July

However, they are also waiting for President Michael D Higgins to sign the necessary legislation into law.
