Star Wars' Mark Hamill To Attend Dublin St. Patrick's Day Parade

Mark Hamill will be the first International Guest of Honour for this year's St. Patrick's Festival.

The Star Wars actor will view the parade in Dublin from the Presidential stand.

Hamill - who's best known for his role as Luke Skywalker - has been here several times recently filming the latest episodes in the Star Wars franchise.

Susan Kirby, St. Patrick’s Festival CEO said:

“The role of International Guest of Honour is something we have been considering for a few years."

“Mark has a special affinity to Ireland through his filming of Star Wars and family history and has done much for our film industry."
 
"We’re looking forward to welcoming him back ‘home’ to celebrate our national holiday and St. Patrick’s Festival with us.”
 
The new role at the St. Patrick's Day Festival is to celebrate the achievements of an individual who has a special connection or significant affinity with Ireland.
